Tesla Removes Model S and Model X from US & Canada Referral Program
By TeslaRefCodes Team

What Changed
As of early March 2026, Tesla has officially removed the Model S and Model X from its referral program in the United States and Canada.
This means that new buyers of these flagship vehicles can no longer use a referral code to receive benefits at purchase. The change applies to all new orders going forward.
What About Europe?
Good news for European buyers — Model S and Model X remain eligible for the referral program in European markets. If you're purchasing a Model S or Model X in Europe, you can still use a referral code and receive the applicable benefits.
Cybertruck Benefit Also Changed
In the same update, Tesla adjusted the Cybertruck referral benefit:
- Previously: $1,000 off the purchase price
- Now: 3 months of free Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised
This brings the Cybertruck referral benefit in line with Model 3 and Model Y, which also offer 3 months of free FSD through the referral program.
Which Models Still Qualify?
Here's the current state of the Tesla referral program in the US and Canada:
| Model | Referral Eligible | Buyer Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Model 3 | ✅ | 3 months free FSD |
| Model Y | ✅ | 3 months free FSD |
| Cybertruck Premium AWD | ✅ | 3 months free FSD |
| Cyberbeast | ✅ | 3 months free FSD |
| Model S | ❌ | Not eligible |
| Model X | ❌ | Not eligible |
Why Did Tesla Make This Change?
Tesla hasn't provided an official explanation, but it likely reflects the company's sales strategy. Model S and Model X are lower-volume, higher-margin vehicles that don't need referral incentives to drive demand. By focusing the referral program on mass-market models (Model 3, Model Y) and the newer Cybertruck, Tesla can allocate referral benefits where they have the most impact.
What Should Model S/X Buyers Do?
If you're considering a Model S or Model X in the US or Canada:
- The referral program is no longer an option, but other savings still exist
- Check for federal and state EV incentives
- Look for Tesla's periodic promotional pricing and inventory discounts
- Consider certified pre-owned options
Still Saving on Model 3, Model Y & Cybertruck
The referral program is alive and well for Tesla's most popular models. If you're buying a Model 3, Model Y, or Cybertruck, make sure to use a referral code and get 3 months of free Full Self-Driving.
