Do you qualify for the $400?

Three questions. This checker does not decide the order. Tesla decides eligibility; confirm the $400 in your order summary.

1. Have you ever owned a Tesla car or energy product?
2. Will Tesla install the solar panels?
3. Is this a Powerwall-only order, with no solar panels?

Who the $400 is for

  • Tesla installs the solar panels. Energy products count only when Tesla installs them.
  • You have never owned a Tesla car or energy product. A prior car, Powerwall, solar system, or Solar Roof makes you an existing customer.
  • You open the link before the order. It cannot be added later, and it is one use per account.
  • The order includes solar panels. A Powerwall bought alone is not on the qualifying list. Solar Roof is not listed either.
  • Tesla can change or end the benefit. It is not cash, and it is not transferable.

Existing customers see loyalty pricing. This site does not publish a loyalty dollar amount. Ohio and Virginia residents cannot earn referrer benefits. Buyers there can still qualify for the $400.

What Tesla solar costs in 2026

The federal 25D homeowner credit does not cover expenditures after December 31, 2025, so a cash or loan buyer in 2026 pays the system price before this $400. Prices below are dated benchmarks from third-party reports, not a Tesla quote. This is not tax advice. Confirm credits, exemptions, and lease terms with a tax professional and on your order documents.

Lease versus buy

On a lease, Tesla owns the system and passes 48E savings into the payment. Reported terms from Tesla support (“How leasing solar works”): a 25-year solar lease, 12 years for a Powerwall-only lease, a 3% annual escalator, a $100 deposit, and a $500 progress payment. 48E still applies to a third-party owner when solar starts construction by July 4, 2026 or is placed in service by December 31, 2027. Storage does not have that placed-in-service cliff (SEIA). A Powerwall-only lease is not on the referral qualifying list. Confirm whether the $400 shows on a lease order summary.
